Description
The GIS Analyst, Senior at Aethon Energy Operating LLC is responsible for supporting the Land Department by providing geospatial analysis and mapping services. This role involves working closely with landmen, geologists, surveyors, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and efficient data management and visualization.
DUTIES & JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 
- Create and maintain GIS datasets, maps, and spatial databases to support land management activities.
- Perform spatial analysis and generate reports to assist in decision-making processes.
- Collaborate with landmen and other departments to gather and integrate data from various sources.
- Develop and maintain web-based GIS applications and tools for internal use.
- Ensure data accuracy and consistency by conducting regular quality control checks.
- Provide training and support to staff on GIS software and tools.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: 
- Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in GIS, preferably in the oil and gas industry with experience mapping spatial data from land survey descriptions i.e. metes and bounds or quarter calls, less and excepts
- Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, and related tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Functional knowledge of core GIS concepts such as coordinate systems, transformations, projections
- Understanding of attribute tables and land software and GIS integration for mapping and reporting purposes
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Knowledge of land management practices and regulations is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with programming languages such as Python or SQL.
- Familiarity with web-based GIS applications and development.
- Advanced degree or certifications in GIS or related fields.
